Privacy Policy

Wisio is built for researchers who value precision and trust. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how you can control it.

1. Who we are

Wisio (wisio.app) is an AI-assisted writing platform for researchers. For questions about this policy, contact us at hello@wisio.app .

2. Data we collect

Account data

When you sign up at dashboard.wisio.app, we collect your email address via Clerk (our authentication provider). We do not store passwords directly — authentication is managed by Clerk.

Content you create

Documents, text, and PDF references you upload are stored to provide the service. Your content is used solely to generate AI suggestions within your projects and is not used to train AI models without your explicit consent.

Usage analytics

This marketing site uses SimpleAnalytics — a privacy-first analytics tool that collects no personal data, sets no cookies, and is fully GDPR-compliant. SimpleAnalytics records only aggregate page-view data (pages visited, referrer, device type). No fingerprinting or cross-site tracking occurs.

Product analytics & session recordings

The application at dashboard.wisio.app (and this marketing site) loads PostHog — a product-analytics service we use to understand which features are used, in what order, and where users get stuck. PostHog collects page views, clicks, and custom event properties (such as funnel steps: lp_cta_clicked, signup_completed, project_created, and AI-action events).

In addition to events, PostHog records short, anonymized session replays on the product and on this site. Replays are used to debug UX issues on the signup and editor flows — they let us watch the exact clicks and navigation that led to a bug without re-asking the user to reproduce it.

What is masked. PostHog is configured with maskAllInputs, so the value of every form input — including password fields, payment fields, email bodies, and AI prompts — is replaced with * in recordings. We additionally block elements marked with data-ph-no-capture from recordings entirely.

What is not captured. The signup and checkout flows themselves are not recorded on the Wisio servers — the password is set on the dashboard.wisio.app signup form (masked in the replay), and payment details are collected directly by Stripe on a Stripe-hosted page (Wisio never sees your card number, and it never appears in a PostHog replay).

Data location & retention. PostHog is hosted in the US (PostHog Cloud, us.i.posthog.com). Replays are retained for 30 days, then automatically deleted. You can opt out of analytics and session recordings by emailing hello@wisio.app from the address on your account; we will disable the PostHog SDK for your profile.

Payment data

Payments are processed by a third-party provider. We do not store full card numbers or sensitive payment details on our servers.

3. How we use your data

  • To provide and improve the Wisio writing platform
  • To authenticate your account and manage your subscription
  • To send transactional emails (account confirmations, password resets)
  • To measure aggregate site traffic and improve the marketing site

We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your data for third-party advertising.

4. Third-party services

Service Purpose Data shared
Clerk Authentication Email address
SimpleAnalytics Site analytics (marketing site only) No personal data
PostHog Product analytics & session recordings Page views, clicks, funnel events; recording inputs masked
Payment processor Subscription billing Payment details (not stored by Wisio)

5. Cookies

The wisio.app marketing site sets no cookies on first visit — the PostHog and SimpleAnalytics scripts we load are privacy-first and do not set cookies until you interact with the page (PostHog's session recording cookie, for example, is only set when a replay actually starts). The application at dashboard.wisio.app may set session cookies required for authentication (managed by Clerk). No advertising or tracking cookies are used.

6. Data retention

We retain your account data and content for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data and documents are deleted within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

7. Your rights (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Delete your account and personal data
  • Port your data to another service
  • Object to or restrict certain processing

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@wisio.app . We will respond within 30 days.

8. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including HTTPS encryption in transit and encrypted storage at rest. Access to user data is restricted to authorized personnel on a need-to-know basis.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product evolves. Material changes will be communicated by email or by a notice on the site. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page always reflects the most recent revision.
